ABOUT

The Indian Private Law Review is India’s first platform dedicated to exploring doctrinal, under-explored areas of private law.

HISTORY

BOARD OF EDITORS

The Indian Private Law Review was founded in 2024 by NLSIU law students with the intent of igniting discussion on unexplored areas of private law - such as contract law, commercial remedies and tort law.  Rather than focusing on contemporary commercial law, it was formed with the intent of promoting discourse on private law with a historical and doctrinal focus, which has thus far found little space in Indian jurisprudence. In particular, we focus on areas of law that are steeped in the common law. Our aim is to make doctrinal private law accessible to law students and the larger legal community. We prioritse analytical rigour, conceptual clarity and historical depth over contemporariness. We are graced by support from our advisory board, consisting of Adv. Mihir Naniwadekar, Dr. Shivprasad Swaminathan and Dr. Nigam Nuggehalli. The board acts as a pivot and guiding light for our platform.
